Wedding Headware – Hats!

Betsy's Wedding - The Wedding Hat That Topped Them All

While the veil has been iconic headware in Western-style weddings for the past century or so, it’s hardly anyone’s sole option for topping off a stylish wedding ensemble.

I’ve recently become completely enamored over hats, mostly due to some photos that a friend took on a recent trip to Ecuador. The traditional female garb among those of Inca descent (especially in the Otavalo region) often includes a neck full of gold or coral beads and a fedora perched atop the head.

Can we co-opt the incredible look for a wedding? Oh, why the heck not?

How about a white wedding fedora? This listing on Etsy.com has me drooling! It can be gangster-chic or winter-wonderland. Combine with a neck full of beaded necklaces, and you have a unique wedding style.

The site Favorideas.com has some really beautiful options as well. Topsyturvydesign’s shop on Etsy is a veritable cornucopia of stunning period pieces and stage ensembles.

It’s tradition! See below (no nip slip necessary).

If full-fledged hats aren’t your thing, how about a fascinator?

Bride.net also has a great post on a variety of really cool potential bridal hats.

I’m a sucker for a cloche-style hat (something about the Roaring 20s, am I right?), and Katrina Couture’s Etsy shop has more than a few cloche hats to choose from. yellowfield is also chock-full of stunning, custom-made cloche hats that would look amazing on any bride. They’re not cheap, but then, veils aren’t either (unless you make them yourself).
