Forest Weddings

We here in the Pacific Northwest live in a stunning physical environment. From mountains to meadows to beaches and deserts, we are blessed with an incredible variety of naturally beautiful locations – that’s probably why so many people travel from other parts of the world to get married here.
Heidi’s post on beach-inspired weddings reminded me that, in addition to beaches, my favorite thing about living in the Puget Sound region is our close proximity to stunning old growth forests.
Mind you, there are beautiful forests all over the world, and so there’s no reason not to look to those for inspiration!
The adorable Intimate Weddings blog showcases a sweet DIY wedding celebration in California (also known for awesome forests, obviously!). Practical Weddings posted some lovely pictures from another California-area wedding in a gorgeous forest setting. Offbeat Bride linked to photos from a simple forest wedding set in the Mount Hood wilderness.
Forests are such an amazing setting and so completely evocative – but evocative of what is sort of up to you! As a rather practical and unromantic Seattlite, I tend to associate forests with hiking, outdoorsy types, and picnics, whereas a more literary girl might imagine a setting just ripe for faeries and magic.
If you can’t see the forest for the trees, you might be interested in a treehouse, Swiss Family Robinson-style wedding venue. This ridiculously beautiful wedding at Treehouse Point was shot by Ben Blood, who has an extremely cool name.
